Youth Basketball League

The YMCA offers a Youth Basketball League each year. YBL is a fun program, which emphasizes basic basketball skills, sportsmanship, team play and participation. As in all YMCA sports, winning is downplayed, and no league standings are kept. All players will get an equal amount of playing time. The volunteer coaches and referees work hard to make YBL a fun learning experience. We will try to hold all practices and games in the Grand Forks Schools. We reserve the right to change rosters to maintain competitive balance.

Coming Soon! ESPORTS!

Grand forks YMCA is excited to announce the addition of esports to our fall and winter season! We are looking for 6th grade to 12th grade youth looking to compete on our club team in the spring with Fenworks.

Bringing an eSports program to the YMCA represents an opportunity to expand our impact by engaging middle and high school youth through an activity that reflects their interests while advancing the YMCA’s mission of building healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. An organized eSports program provides a safe, supervised environment where young people can develop teamwork, communication, leadership, critical thinking, and sportsmanship while forming meaningful peer relationships. For many youth who may not be drawn to traditional sports, eSports offers an inclusive pathway to connect with the YMCA, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging continued participation in other YMCA programs and community activities. By embracing eSports, the YMCA can strengthen youth development, promote positive social connections, and create new opportunities to engage families, attract underserved populations, and prepare young people with collaboration and digital literacy skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s world.
