Welcome to the YMCA Fitness Center

The Altru Family YMCA Fitness Center features state-of-the-art cardio, selectorized and free weight equipment, all on one floor for your convenience.

CARDIO CENTER

Our cardio equipment comes equipped with personal television/viewing consoles, including: 10 Precor elliptical trainers; 3 Precor upright bikes; 2 NuStep seated cross trainers; 2 Matrix steppers; 1 Matrix Climb Mill; 1 Stairmaster Step Mill; 3 Precor recumbent bikes; 8 Matrix treadmills; 3 Precor AMT elliptical trainers; 2 Octane ellipticals with Cross Circuit; 2 Concept 1 rowers; 3 Matrix Krankcycles; 2 Octane X-Rider seated ellipticals; 2 Cybex Arc Trainers; and 2 LifeFitness cross trainers.

SELECTORIZED STRENGTH CIRCUIT

We offer a complete line of Nautilus EVO Strength Machines includes 17 upper body, lower body and core machines that are easy to use and move the way the human body is designed to move. The Nautilus circuit, including a Cybex chest press, is a great way to get started with strength training or to compliment your weight training regimen.

WEIGHT TRAINING

Our free weight training area is equpped with a variety of new, heavy duty equipment including: 2 Hammer Strength power racks with platforms, power pivots, and multi-handle pull up bars; Hammer Strength incline and decline Olympic benches, glute/ham and leg press; 2 Samson Olympic competition flat benches; Paramount cable crossover with 5 stations and multi-handle pull up bar; Precor training benches, adjustable decline bench, AB-X bench, stretch trainer; Troy solid urethane dumbbells and racks; complete line of Olympic weight plates and bumper plates; and a few of our old favorites such as the hack squat, shoulder press, Roman chair, back extension and more.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE EQUIPMENT

The YMCA Fitness Center also offers a Nautilus Freedom Trainer and the seat-less Krankcycle, which allow wheelchair access for even more variety of strength and functional training. Other machines that offer easy access include: NuStep, recumbent bikes, seated elliptical trainers, and others.

FITNESS CENTER ORIENTATION

An overview of the YMCA Fitness Center Cardio & Weight Rooms

The YMCA Fitness Center offers a wide variety of cardio and weight training equipment, such as treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, free weights, nautilus strength training, and more. Our trained Fitness Center Staff will take you on a guided tour of the cardio and weight rooms, show you how to operate various pieces of equipment and explain what you need to know to help you feel comfortable utilizing the Fitness Center. Free for Y members.

NAUTILUS STRENGTH TRAINING EQUIPMENT ORIENTATION

A concentrated session focusing on the Nautilus Strength Circuit.

A Y Fitness Center Instructor will introduce you to one of the most sophisticated and easy to use lines of strength training equipment available. You will be coached on how to properly set up the machines and perform the exercises safely and effectively.

PERSONAL FITNESS TRAINING ORIENTATION

A session with a Y Personal Fitness Trainer

Meet with a Y Personal Fitness Trainer and discuss your fitness goals. Your trainer will suggest activities that you can try and help you make a fitness plan. Suggested activities may include various cardiovascular and weight training options, appropriate fitness classes, journal keeping and more.

INTRO TO FREE WEIGHTS

Learn how to navigate the Fitness Center weight room and appropriately use the the variety of equipment available to you such as dumbbells, cable crossover, olympic benches, power racks, leg press, and more. Call to schedule an appointment.

YOUTH FITNESS TRAINING ORIENTATION (Y.F.M.)

Members Age 10 and over. Youth are trained how to use youth-appropriate cardio and Nautilus machines.

Youth are invited to get their Youth Fitness Membership (Y.F.M.) which will allow them to use the Fitness Center any time during staffed hours when they present their Y.F.M. membership card. To obtain this membership, youth will attend an orientation class to learn how to use appropriate cardio machines (stationary bikes, treadmills, cross trainers, etc.) and Nautilus strength training machines for upper body, lower body and abdominal strengthening based on individual size and maturity. Youth will also be coached on appropriate gym etiquette.

 

Y.F.M. members may use the Fitness Center any time during staffed hours with or without parent or guardian (youth must present Y.F.M. card).

 

Members age 15 and over may use the Fitness Center any time.
